El Royal

Los Angeles, Ca

The most iconic apartment building in Los Angeles, El Royale, has been home for some of the entertainment industry's biggest names, including Loretta Young, Clark Gable, Nicolas Cage, and Cameron Diaz. Emmerson has elevated the grandeur of this historic space with carefully chosen vintage pieces that have a history of its own. Drapery fabric by Castel from Donghia, a 1800s Turkish rug, a pair of Edward Wormley upholstered chairs, a 1930s Fritz Henningsen leather armchair, a 1940s Jacques Adnet three arm lamp, and silk embroidered pillows by Fedora Design adorn one of the building's living rooms. The walls are dressed with silver leaf wallpaper made in Japan by Maya Ramanoff and a Philip Laverne wall plaque from the 1960s. The bedroom is refurbished with historic wallpaper designs by Hamilton Weston, a 1940s Regency style leather chair, Beatles original prints by Richard Avedon for Look Magazine, a silk bed throw from Anichini, and a vintage French wood & metal plant stand. The guest room boasts a 1870s antique with Uzbeck Suzanisn(Turkish) fabric from The Fainting Couch, an 18th-century Italian rope bed, vintage tin trunks, and a 1940s Robsjohn Gibbings Klismo stool. The dining area features Jacques Adnet leather chairs, a 1940s Jean Prouve secretary table, and a 1950s French metal arm chandelier.
